We are committed to world mission, at home and abroad and we encourage every believer to share the gospel wherever they are. Specifically, however, we support a number of people whom God has called to work abroad in a number of different locations and ministries with the chief aim of communicating the good news about Jesus. In addition, the church encourages those who are seeking to find out if God wants them working overseas to take further training or carry out short term missionary assignments.

Prayer is vital for our missionaries. At the weekly prayer meeting, evening communion service, as well as at other times, up-to-date information is brought for prayer. Prayer cards for each missionary are provided to encourage people to pray at home.

We have special missionary speakers throughout the year, as well as an annual Missionary Week - a time of prayer, giving and focus on world mission.

David and Jane Mann

David and Jane Mann

Mandritsara, Madagascar

David trained in medicine at Cambridge and St George's Hospital Medical School. Jane trained first as a secretary and then went to Southampton and Birmingham to train in social work. She and David were married at TRC in l971. They have four grown up children, Rebecca, Ruth, Rachel and Reuben. From l977-84 they served at Mseleni Hospital in Kwa Zulu, South Africa. They then spent 5 years in Gabon. After this they had an extended furlough when David served as Associate Pastor at TRC.

In 1993 they went to pioneer a new work in Madagascar. The aim was to evangelise and plant churches, as well as bringing medical help to an area of great spiritual and medical need. Since then the Mandritsara Good News Hospital has been built, reaching out to a large, isolated region in the north of Madagascar. David leads the missionary team, heads the medical and surgical work and is involved in preaching and evangelism in the hospital and the church. He broadcasts on the local radio station and writes gospel tracts. Jane has helped the church in setting up an all-age Sunday school.

Please pray:

  • - for a deep work of the Spirit in the hearts of many who hear the Good News of Jesus through this joint medical and church project
  • - that believers, both in Mandritsara and in the churches that have been planted in the surrounding area, will be built up in their knowledge and love of the Lord.
  • - for the proposed new work at Maintirano, 400 miles SW of Mandritsara.

Lynne McLeavy

Lynne McLeavy

Brazil

Lynne trained as a nurse in Leicester and spent five years nursing in the army before working at St George's Hospital. While there she became a Christian.

In 1993 Lynne went to Brazil with the mission agency Unevangelised Fields Mission (UFM) to work amongst street children in the northern city of Belem. Over the years, Lynne and her co-worker Bete worked with local churches to set up the ARCA (Assistance & Recuperation for the Child and Adolescent) project. This included starting up two girls' homes, a boys' home and a city drop-in centre.

In 2006, Lynne and Bete began a new work among the 150 or so mainly women and children of the bairro das flores or Flowers Estate who earn a living by selling materials found on the local rubbish dump.

    Please pray for:
  • - their health and safety, the Flowers Estate is an unhealthy place and tends to attract criminals who are hiding from the police.
  • - the various building projects and courses run by Lynne to teach the women skills to earn income away from the rubbish tip, e.g. hair dressing, clothes making, craftwork etc.
  • - the mothers, children and young people, that they would respond to the love of Jesus in action.
